Sometime in either 87 or 88, I took a friend to The Peabody hotel to hear this guy that sounded like he was going to be the new Prince.

Sometime in either 87 or 88, I took a friend to The Peabody hotel to hear this guy that sounded like he was going to be the new Prince. Unfortunately, Prince can't be the old anything but this guy at The Peabody ballroom totally blew us away.

He had requested the AC be turned off due to a cold he claimed he had and that led to a slight "funk" in the air. And it added to the show.

Though he's changed his name to Sananda Maitreya (again trying to out-Prince Prince, I reckon), we all remember him as Terence Trent D'arby or TTD, for short. Lots of people will remember Wishing Well, his major hit from his first album The Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby, but I remember his first minor hit from the same album (it was the opening cut) with a jealousy of someone who heard of him first.
